Town Council approves floodplain ordinance amendment, grants fire radio upgrade.

NH HOOKSETT — Hooksett Town Council unanimously amended the Floodplain Development Ordinance to reflect updated FEMA flood insurance maps effective January 23, 2026, and voted 6-0 to accept Radio Communications Management's $366,382.35 quote for a Project 25 digital simulcast fire department radio system. The upgrade, funded entirely through the Fire Department's impact fee account balance of $626,048.79, will replace an aging analog repeater in service since 1999 and create dual-site coverage linking the South Bow Road tower and the Safety Center, with shared infrastructure benefits for Police and Public Works departments. Fire Chief David Nadeau noted the existing system lacks manufacturer support and cannot meet NFPA 1221 standards.
The Council also heard an extensive update on the Route 3 corridor improvement project (29611), a $24.2 million undertaking scheduled for 2030 or 2031, pending a Finding of Necessity determination in mid-May.
